South Mornington was added to D4 Section of the VAFA for season 2007. Known as the Tigers, the club previously competed in Division Three of the Southern Football League. Their debut season in the amateurs was inauspicious, yielding 6 wins from 18 matches, which saw them placed ninth out of twelve teams. Subsequent seasons saw them improve gradually, and in 2012 they won the grand final of Division Four, as D4 Section was by then known. The Tigers enjoyed a dominant season which saw them win all bar a couple of games but in the grand final they were pushed all the way by Swinburne University who led at every change by 14, 18 and 11 points. In the last quarter, however, South Mornington dominated, adding 7 goals to 3 to win by 15 points, 14.17 (101) to 13.8 (86).
The Tigers' cause in Division Three was not aided by the loss of numerous key players and after just a couple of seasons they were relegated back to Division Four. Shortage of players in 2016 meant the club was restricted to playting in the Club XVIII (1) competition in which they finished last. In sharp contrast, a year later they won the premiership of Club XVIII (1) with a 0.5 to 0.4 grand final defeat of Old Xaverians.
The 2018 season saw South Mornington resuming in the VAFA's mainstream competitions when they were accorded a place in Division Four. The side performed solidly, winning 9 out of 18 matches to finish fifth.
